Eyes are drawn first to
light
then to contrast
then symmetry
curves of bodies
trained along limbs
arms snaking
up the tree trunk
leg from torso as limb from trunk — gaunt appendages branching out,
hands caress bark
five toes dangle above
the forest floor
the others
buried. deep as roots
